Homespun is a creative studio based in the East Midlands. We work primarily with artists and charities to tell stories about where we live through photography, film making and graphic design.

This short film was made in collaboration with local families as part of the Family Workshop programme at Modern Painters, New Decorators. During a series of workshops children were invited to imagine they were journalists working for a make believe newspaper: “OUR COMMON MERCIES”.
Participants created silly stories and imagined urban myths for their newspapers. We took the publications and followed the children’s imaginations to adapt their stories for the big screen. The film was screened at a community celebration event hosted by Modern Painters, New Decorators in July 2023.
